Gum Infection Considered As A Global Health Problem
Dental problems such as dental caries or tooth decay, gingivitis or gum disease or gum infection, and oral cancers are considered as a global health problem in both developing and poor countries.
Gum infections are afflicting most people in many developing countries due to unhealthy diets that are rich in sugar and the use of tobacco products as well as, poor oral care.
Oral diseases that range from cavities to oral cancer or gum infection are found to be serious threats to oral health. Remember that oral health is an essential part of general health. The link between oral disease and other medical concerns such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, pre-term and low-birth weight babies are shown in the dental research.
